The International Conference on Semiconductor Technologies and Applications 2025

* Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), a partner of the ChipsC2-LT Competence Centre, will host the international conference “MICROELECTRONICS 2025: From Technology to Application” on 3–4 November 2025 in Kaunas. The event will gather researchers, engineers, and industry professionals to explore the latest developments in semiconductor materials, design, and integration technologies.

Organised by the KTU Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, the conference serves as a national platform to connect academia, research, and industry. While KTU leads the organisation, the event also highlights the broader ecosystem of Lithuanian semiconductor excellence fostered through the ChipsC2-LT Competence Centre, which unites FTMC, Vilnius University, Vilnius TECH ir KTU as part of the European Chips Competence Centre network.

Conference Highlights

The two-day programme will feature presentations and practical sessions from international experts in microelectronics design and open-source semiconductor development, including representatives from IHP – Leibniz Institute for Innovative Microelectronics, LibreLane, KLayout, NGSPICE, and Xschem.

Key topics include:

  • Open-source design workflows and the use of IHP’s 130 nm BiCMOS process;
  • LibreLane and KLayout tools for chip design and layout;
  • Analog and mixed-signal simulation using NGSPICE and Xschem;
  • Hands-on training with IHP OpenPDK modules;
  • Roundtable discussion on building a local ecosystem for FOSS IC design at KTU.

Why Attend?

  • Gain first-hand experience with open-source chip design and simulation tools;
  • Learn directly from leading tool developers and research institutes;
  • Participate in hands-on workshops using IHP OpenPDK resources;
  • Explore how Lithuania’s Chips Competence Centre (ChipsC2-LT) contributes to Europe’s semiconductor innovation ecosystem;
  • Network with experts and peers from academia, research, and industry across the Baltic region.

Date: 3–4 November 2025.
Location: KTU Interdisciplinary Prototyping Laboratory Centre – M-Lab.
