VILNIUS TECH and the University of Siegen to Train Highly Qualified Engineers for the Semiconductor Industry

VILNIUS TECH and the University of Siegen (Germany) have signed a cooperation agreement to implement a double-degree master’s study program in Electronics Engineering with a specialization in advanced electronics design. The new program is aimed at training highly qualified engineers capable of developing complex electronic systems for the rapidly growing semiconductor and chip-based industries.

Under the agreement, students will study at both universities according to a jointly coordinated curriculum covering the design of analog, digital, and high-frequency (RF) electronic circuits and integrated circuits, mixed-signal systems, applications of nanoelectronic devices, semiconductor technologies, advanced modeling methods, as well as testing, measurement, and characterization of electronic systems. It is planned that VILNIUS TECH students will study at the University of Siegen during the 3rd and 4th semesters. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will receive a double-degree diploma recognized in both Lithuania and Germany.

The double-degree program will provide students with the opportunity to work with modern design and research infrastructure, use industry-standard software and hardware tools, conduct high-frequency and high-precision measurements, and prepare their final theses in close cooperation with researchers and industrial partners from both universities.

The Chips Competence Center will play an important role in the implementation of this program. Its activities are focused on strengthening the ecosystem of advanced electronics and semiconductor technologies in Lithuania. The Center’s initiatives, together with the partnership between VILNIUS TECH and the University of Siegen, enhance cooperation in the strategically important field of nanoelectronics and advanced electronics design, contribute to the development of the European Union’s semiconductor ecosystem, and create opportunities to train high value-added engineers capable of addressing complex design, testing, and applied challenges.

This double-degree program is an important part of the ATHENA European University Alliance, reinforcing the long-standing and successful partnership between VILNIUS TECH and the University of Siegen.
