Scientific Literature Review and Technology Landscape Analysis
Cross-Cutting and Integrated Service Pathways
Technical Scope and Capabilities
This service provides structured scientific literature reviews and technology landscape analyses for SMEs, start-ups and research entities developing semiconductor-related products or projects. The service draws on the combined scientific expertise of all four ChipsC²-LT consortium partners — FTMC, VU, VILNIUS TECH and KTU — across the full range of semiconductor technology domains covered by the centre.
The service follows the ChipsC²-LT one-stop-shop principle. Companies do not need to identify the relevant consortium partner or expert in advance. All requests are submitted through the ChipsC²-LT central interface (chipsc2.lt) and are managed by a coordination team comprising the CCC manager and the consortium WP leaders. This team performs an initial assessment of the company's application domain, technical questions, and confidentiality requirements, and assigns one or more partner experts based on the technology field. Each partner contributes domain-specific scientific expertise
FTMC — photonic integrated circuits, lasers, VCSELs, quantum cascade lasers, terahertz emitters and detectors, semiconductor nanostructures and III–V materials
VU — optoelectronic devices, novel semiconductor materials, charge transport and recombination modelling, radiation effects on semiconductor devices
VILNIUS TECH — analog, RF, mixed-signal and digital IC design, power electronics, GaN/SiC wide-bandgap applications, imaging systems and readout integrated circuits
KTU — heterogeneous integration, advanced packaging, open-source EDA workflows, design-flow methodologies and educational design environments.
For requests spanning multiple technology domains, the coordination team assembles a multi-partner expert team, ensuring that the company receives integrated input from all relevant scientific perspectives without having to manage multiple bilateral engagements. The CCC manager remains the company's single point of contact throughout, while the technical expertise is delivered jointly by the assigned partner experts.
Core Infrastructure / Tools / Equipment
The service draws on resources and expertise available across the consortium
Scientific databases (Web of Science, Scopus, IEEE Xplore, PubMed, ScienceDirect) accessed through partner institutional subscriptions
Patent databases (Espacenet, Google Patents, WIPO);
Bibliometric and trend analysis tools (VOSviewer, CiteSpace, Bibliometrix);
Scientific expertise of FTMC, VU, VILNIUS TECH and KTU research groups, including senior researchers, postdoctoral fellows and PhD candidates active in the relevant technology domains
ChipsC²-LT coordination infrastructure for multi-partner engagement and quality assurance.
Service Delivery Process
The service is delivered through three structured meetings over approximately four to six weeks, with an optional fourth meeting
Meeting 1 — Intake and scoping. The CCC manager and the assigned partner expert (or expert team) meet with the company. The company presents its project, idea or problem. The expert team identifies keywords, defines the scope of analysis, and agrees on the work plan.
Meeting 2 — Preliminary findings. Following approximately two weeks of analysis, the expert team presents initial findings, key publications, identified research groups and preliminary insights. The company provides feedback and additional questions.
Meeting 3 — Final report. After refinement based on company feedback, the expert team delivers the final structured report, including a technology landscape analysis, critical insights, and recommendations.
Meeting 4 (optional) — Transition to follow-up. The coordination team and expert team discuss practical application pathways with the company, identify next steps, and introduce relevant ChipsC²-LT services, such as R&D collaboration, prototyping, testing and validation, or IP consulting, offered across the consortium.
Expected Outputs
Structured scientific literature review report compiled by the assigned partner expert team
Technology landscape and trends analysis;
Identification of key research groups, authors and emerging directions;
Critical insights and interpretation tailored to the company's business context;
Recommendations for next development steps and, where appropriate, suggested follow-up ChipsC²-LT services across FTMC, VU, VILNIUS TECH and KTU.
Service Delivery Terms and Times
The service is delivered under a formally established Non-Disclosure Agreement between the company and ChipsC²-LT. Where multiple partners are involved in the analysis, tripartite or multi-party NDAs are concluded as needed. All deliverables are owned by the requesting company. Typical delivery time is four to six weeks from intake to final report.
