Technical Scope and Capabilities
This service provides characterisation of detectors and other devices exposed to short X-ray pulses of broad spectrum.
Core Infrastructure / Tools / Equipment
The service uses a custom-built setup based on the Golden Engineering XRS4 X-Ray source.
System parameters and equipment:
- maximum photon energy of 370 keV
- average output dose of approximately 5 mR per pulse
- pulse duration of approximately 10 ns
- pulse rate of 9 pulses per second
- protective shielding of 2.5 cm to 5 cm thickness
- 1 GHz oscilloscope
- DC power supplies
- silicon photomultipliers as reference detectors.
Possible Restrictions
Sample size is limited to 10 × 10 × 10 cm.
